Keep your extension’s public classes, templates and build together. The generated Summary package follows this layout; asset-manifest.json and the release directory are produced by the build rather than edited manually.

Which file should you change?

Keep one owner for each implementation

A field that contains FlexTextInput uses its real child renderer. Your package’s CSS owns the parent layout and its display surfaces; it should not reproduce the child’s input styles. The column and entry can call the same PHP formatter while keeping their own label and cell wrappers. Shared JavaScript comes from the public SDK rather than copied runtime files.

Files to distribute

Ship Composer metadata, public PHP classes, views, the manifest and every artifact in the manifest’s selected release directory. Users installing a built package do not need to install Node to consume those artifacts. Keep your build source and lockfile in your package repository so you can reproduce the output. Set a suitable package description, PHP/FLEX requirements and license before publishing. Do not exclude the manifest or selected resources/dist/<release> directory from your Composer archive. Use your own release tag and semantic version; ABI versions describe the FLEX protocol, not your package release number.

Build and publish

Compile dependency graphs and publish complete immutable releases.
