Keep a stored value with the exact configuration and value versions that produced
it. The snapshot format is separate from the asset manifest, package release,
PHP/JS ABI and ordinary FieldValueCodec format.
The envelope has format version 1 and requires every saved definition key,
including explicit configuration/value versions and all restriction flags.
It preserves null, false, integers, floats, empty arrays and Unicode.
It accepts finite JSON-compatible data only, with an 8 MiB envelope, 32,768-node
and depth-60 budget. PHP reference aliases are detached when the snapshot is
constructed. The codec does not construct an adapter or require its package to be
installed, so you can retain and inspect a snapshot after uninstalling a package.
Decoding a snapshot does not authorize it or validate the family’s business rules.
